#BCCI
Dear Mr. Jay Shah, Secretary, BCCI,
We are writing to express our growing concern about the increasing number of cricket matches being played due to the Indian Premier League (IPL). While the IPL has undoubtedly been a massive success and a great platform for young cricketers to showcase their skills, we feel that it has led to an over-saturation of cricket in the Indian calendar.
As a result, we are witnessing a steady decline in interest among fans, particularly among the youth. The prolonged season of domestic and international cricket, including the IPL, has made it challenging for spectators to follow their favorite teams and players. The fatigue factor is taking a toll on the sport, and we fear that if this trend continues, it may irreparably harm the beautiful game.
We understand that cricket is a highly competitive sport, and the IPL has been a significant revenue earner for the BCCI. However, we believe that the governing body needs to strike a balance between promoting the sport and giving fans a break from the relentless schedule. A shorter and more manageable calendar would not only help sustain the interest of fans but also allow players to recharge and maintain their performances.
We urge the BCCI to reassess the cricket calendar and consider reducing the number of matches, particularly in the domestic circuit. This would not only benefit the game but also enhance the overall experience for the fans. We hope that you will take our concerns seriously and work towards creating a more sustainable and enjoyable cricket ecosystem in India.
Sincerely,
Anonymous
